About Us
At Bright Beams (Billacombe Road), we are passionate about providing a warm, nurturing and inspiring environment where children can flourish. Our vision is to create a setting where children feel safe, valued and excited to learn. We are a brand-new nursery opening in September 2025, offering high-quality early years education and care for children from 9 months to school age. We aim to build a team of dedicated professionals who share our commitment to delivering outstanding childcare and who will help us shape the future of our setting from the very start.

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Deputy Manager to support the Nursery Manager in leading the day-to-day running of the nursery. The Deputy Manager will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of care and education are maintained, supporting staff development and acting as a key point of contact for children, parents and carers. In the Manager’s absence, the Deputy Manager will take full responsibility for the nursery and its operation.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Bright Beams (Billacombe Road) as we grow, and to help create an inspiring environment for children to learn, explore and thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Nursery Manager in leading the nursery team, ensuring all children receive exceptional care and education.
  • Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), ensuring robust safeguarding practices are embedded throughout the setting.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to staff, acting as a positive role model and supporting their professional development.
  • Support staff in planning and delivering an engaging and challenging curriculum in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning, providing coaching and feedback to continuously raise standards.
  • Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with parents and carers, promoting parental engagement and satisfaction.
  • Support with the recruitment, induction and supervision of staff.
  • Lead by example in providing a nurturing, inclusive and stimulating environment for all children.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, including health and safety, safeguarding, GDPR and Ofsted regulations.
  • Support the Manager with administrative duties, including rotas, attendance, documentation and nursery organisation.
  • Take full responsibility for the nursery in the absence of the Nursery Manager.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A minimum Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education (Level 5 or working towards is highly desirable).
  • Significant experience working in an early years setting, with experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and related legislation.
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding training and knowledge of child protection procedures.
  • Paediatric First Aid Certificate (or willingness to complete).
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organised, flexible and able to manage a busy and dynamic environment.
  • A passion for delivering outstanding care and education, with a child-centred approach.

Working Hours
This is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week, across Monday to Friday between the hours of 8.00am and 6.00pm. Flexibility will be required to meet the needs of the setting. The Deputy Manager will work on a rota to ensure management cover is provided at all times.
