Funding Your Child’s Place – What’s Changing in September 2025?

Childcare funding in England is undergoing one of its biggest expansions ever – and for families with children under five, this is welcome news!

From September 2025, more working parents will be entitled to funded hours, starting from their child’s ninth month. At Bright Beams, we understand that every family’s situation is different – and we’re here to help you make sense of it all.

🎓 What You’re Entitled To (from September 2025)

Child’s AgeFunded Hours AvailableEligibility Requirement
9 months to 23 months15 hours/weekWorking parents meeting income/work criteria
2-year-olds15 hours/weekWorking parents (expanded group)
3–4-year-oldsUp to 30 hours/weekAll get 15 hrs; 30 hrs if eligible

This is government-funded childcare, not a cash benefit, and it must be used with approved providers like Bright Beams.

🕒 Term-Time or Stretched?

We offer two funding models:

  • Term-Time: 15 or 30 hours per week for 38 weeks
  • Stretched Funding: Spread over more weeks with fewer hours per week (approximately, ~12 or ~24 hours for 48 weeks)

This flexibility allows you to access the support you need year-round.

✅ How to Apply

To access your entitlement, you’ll need to:

  1. Apply for a 30 hours code (if applicable) via your HMRC account
  2. Renew your code every 3 months
  3. Share your code and NI number with us
  4. Agree on a funding plan based on available sessions

We’ll support you through every step and advise on how to get the most from your entitlement.
