Our Approach

We follow a personalised approach to supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), focusing on:

  • Building strong, trusting relationships
  • Understanding each child’s individual needs
  • Creating an inclusive and supportive environment
  • Working closely with families and professionals

Support is tailored to each child, ensuring they can access learning and experiences in a way that works best for them.

Assessment

We carefully monitor all children’s development through ongoing observation and assessment. Where additional support may be needed, we:

  • Identify early signs of delay or emerging needs
  • Work alongside parents to understand the child fully
  • Use targeted assessment tools such as WellComm Toolkit and the Leuven Scales
  • Liaise with external professionals where appropriate

This ensures support is put in place as early as possible.

Individual Support Plan

Children with additional needs are supported through individualised plans, often referred to as Individual Support Plans (ISP) or IEPs.

These plans:

  • Set clear, achievable targets
  • Focus on small, meaningful steps of progress
  • Are reviewed regularly with parents
  • Adapt based on the child’s development and needs

We follow a continuous cycle of Assess – Plan – Do – Review to ensure support remains effective.

Working in Partnership

We believe strong partnerships are key to successful outcomes.

We work closely with:

  • Parents and carers
  • Health visitors
  • Speech and Language Therapists
  • Educational Psychologists
  • Local authority SEND teams

We also signpost families to additional support and services where needed.

Inclusive Practice

Our environment and teaching approaches are adapted to meet a wide range of needs. This may include:

  • Adjusting activities to suit different learning styles
  • Providing additional adult support where needed
  • Using visual aids and communication tools
  • Supporting emotional wellbeing and regulation

We aim to remove barriers so every child can fully participate.
